First Time

So often we get so complacent in life that we just start going through the motions of life.  We stop doing things for the "first time".  We may go see a new move or try a new restaurant but not so often.

I try to expose my clients to new first time experiences and love it.  It's such an amazing feeling to see someone's face and experience their happiness when they try or do something for the first time.

These experiences don't have to cost alot nor do you need to travel far.  Last week at work, I borrowed a small swimming pool and water toys and we had water war. We've had water balloon fights but we've never just had full out water war on-site and it was all free.

This is one of my kids who graduated high school, so I took him and a friend out to eat.  I took them to Outback.  They had NEVER been nor have they NEVER been to Oak Park Mall.  They were like that's what it looks like.  We had them try sweet potato fries and they both loved it and they couldn't believe it.

These moments makes me so thankful.

Since my son and I've been connected, I've been experiencing alot of his first with him.  I so love it.  This must be how parents feel when they take their kids to places for the first time.  Son hasn't been alot of places nor experienced some of the things that I take for granted.  He doesn't know but I experienced a first with him and it really shocked me.  Thank you Lord for letting me advance out of my box.

Last month, we went to the movies to go see Men in Black 3.  One of our theaters had a makeover and I've been wanting to go since I heard about it.  I have heard nothing but great things since the makeover.  Now before, it was kind of yucky.  Son had never been to the theater so he had nothing to compare it too.  We walk in and our jaws drop.  He thought we were in the wrong theater.

We traveled to Nebraska/Iowa to visit my sister and it was a first for him to go there. We both experienced a first together, the Omaha zoo.  I've been wanting to go forever and I'm  so glad that I got to experience it with my son.  We experienced the Pedestrian bridge together for the first time and Oh boy was that an experience with the storms coming in.  For me, it will be a day to remember.  I hope to go back to the bridge with son soon.  Especially with a working camera.

I got to be there for his first concert experience.  Fred Hammond, Mary Mary, and Jessica Reedy.  Our seats were perfect.

Friday night, we went to the drive-in.  He's never done that before.  Wowzer!  It's just so shocking but honored that I could be there with him.  It was such a perfect night to attend.  We went and saw Madagascar 3 and Battleship.  Which Battleship started watching me.  I wanted his experience to be memoriable, so I bought pizza and all kinds of junk food.  We got skittle wasted.  The riddle skittles and blended skittles are my new fav!

Last night, we went to the Plaza and they have street artists on every corner. There was an caricature artist and you can tell son really wanted a drawing of himself.  He said he's been wanting to do this foreverrrrrrr (in my sandlot voice).  He was so proud of the finished product.  It made the trip to the plaza so worth it just to see his smile.

I can't say this enough.  I'm so thankful that God allowed our paths to cross.  I really needed son's friendship at this time of my life.  He is such a beautiful person inside and out.  His friendship is a reminder to me to step out of my comfort zone and experience things for the first time.  There are things that I haven't done and opportunities for me to do them.
