I was invited to a Tamale Party and had the best time ever. I actually made, rolled up my first ever Tamale. It's not as easy as it looks. The masa, the corn meal looking stuff was actually tricky to get on the corn husk appriopriately.
I would love to do this again and master the art of rolling Tamales. I do not know how the ladies in Mexico ever did this. I definitely would have been in the clean up crew. I think more than ever, I appreciate the work that goes into making Tamales.
I might share the recipe on here a little later so you can try at home.
My Mother-in-Law makes tamale about once a year. They are such a labor intensive food item! And you could not have been more right about the masa, it is tricky. If you want more practice, I am sure she would love the help next time she makes them.
ReplyDeleteI have never made tamales before. I know people who make them in an assembly line, everyone doing their piece of the process. I'll always volunteer to taste test :)
ReplyDeletePam, maybe we could put this on our list of items to cook for the week. I'm pretty sure they are not the healthiest meal but sure is good.
ReplyDeleteAudrey, we were going to do the assembly line but I think everyone wanted to try to make one fully. You are more than welcome to be a taste taster, wink. They didn't look too hot but they were really good.
Jen, It really was fun but of course the company makes it even better. Thanks for thinking of me lady. You have a "Stellar" week!
