This Job is Wearing Me Out!

I think this picture says it all.  I'm ALWAYS so exhausted when I leave work.  Today, I had an extra hour commute home due to a wreck on the highway and they shut it down for a couple of hours, can we say fun detour.  Okay, it really was fun watching people's faces as many of them were mad or frustrated about the traffic.  Why?  Just roll with the traffic, find a good station, and get your camera ready (oh, only I do that) and enjoy the 2hr commute.

When I got home at 5:30p.  I was asleep by 6p and woke up at 9:30p.  I missed phone calls, dinner, shows, and the opportunity to enjoy the nice weather.  Grr!  I don't even have enough strength at times to even look for a new and better job!  The life of a social worker!

It's 6 word Saturday.  While I was writing this, I came up with 2 more sets of 6 words but I'll stop for now.  Such a fun link up and and to see what other people come up with.  Think of 6 words that describe your life.  You can explain, blog about it, use a picture, or say nothing at all.  Sometimes you don't even need words.  Have fun!  It really does come easy.  Click on button below to link up.

Resurrection Biscuits

Happy Resurrection Sunday!

Two weeks ago a friend told me about Resurrection biscuits and although she knows that I wasn't able to talk about Jesus with the kids I work with, she thought it would be a good activity.  So I went on a man hunt to find a good recipe and story that goes with the biscuits.  I could credit all the sites I looked at but it would be forever, so I will just say that I am NOT the creator of the biscuits but the site I liked that I thought had the best tomb picture was Everything in Moderation blog.

I really wanted to make the biscuits but didn't have anyone to make them for and after long though and seeking guidance from God.  I have a lesson plan for the biscuits that I can use with the kids I work with that I'll explain while I'll share my experience in making the biscuits in ( ).

My friend who suggested the recipe always makes the Resurrection biscuits for the workers in our church bookstore (we both serve in there).  She suggested that I make them this year for the workers and I was really excited.

Resurrection Biscuits

Ingredients:
1 Can of Grand biscuits
1/2 Cup of Melted butter (I used Spray butter)
Cinnamon/Sugar mix (you can buy it already mixed) or per your preference
1 Pkg of Large (fresh) marshmallows per biscuit

Each child will get a biscuit and flatten it out approx. 5 inches across.  The biscuit will represent the tomb that Jesus was placed in. (Tomb represents us, our body)

Then spread butter on your biscuit.  I used spray butter and 5-10 squirts work. (Talk about negativity and how people can be real slick at saying negative things to us).

Now sprinkle your cinnamon/sugar mix, I would say 1 tablespoon.  This represents the spices used to bury Jesus. (Continue talking about the negative things people do to us and how it hurts us and people can see it but we continue to hang out with negative people).

Then each child receives one large marshmallow (make sure it's fresh or they will be eating Jesus' linen left in the tomb, as my friend found out).  The marshmallow represents Jesus.  It's white because it represents purity and His sinless life. (The marshmallow represents the positive things people say to us and we think of ourselves).

Place the marshmallow in the center of the biscuit, then fold the sides around it forming a 'tomb'. Help younger kids as needed.  Pinch the sides of their tombs closed and then place them crease side down on a baking sheet so they will not open while cooking. (Talk about how we continue to hang around negative people and take their attitude because they are cool and we long to be cool so we embrace their attributes).

Put more butter, cinnamon and sugar on the outside. We talk about the sweet taste of the spices and how Jesus gave us the sweetest gift we will ever receive. (Talk about how the importance of the people we hang out with and associate with.  They will soon rub off on us and it will be visible to others.  "Birds of a feather flock together").

At this point you can go ahead and bake the biscuits. They need to bake following the directions on the biscuit package. Then they need a little cooling time because the marshmallow will be very hot.

When the children bite into their buns they will be surprised to find the center empty. The marshmallow has melted. As each child discovers the empty tomb, we repeat : He is not here for He is risen. (Talk about how when we are around negative people and not positive influences, it can leave us feeling empty.  We need more positive influences than negative to move forward in life).

I know it's not the best representation but not to bad for my first time

You can read, Luke 23:26-24:12 before, after, or during the process to relate the significant event.

The workers in the bookstore at church thought they were great.  Someone even asked for the recipe and loved the story!  This really made me happy.

Happy Resurrection Sunday

Rise up today and go to church to celebrate, not the holiday of Easter but the Resurrection of our King!  He is not bound to the grave but loosed in heaven and on earth with us!

Really...Really?

Frustration has set in.  It's time like these that I wish I had my Boaz!  Car problems again.  I headed over to a couples house today from church and my check engine light was flashing and car was jerking.  They sure don't make cars like they use too.  I remember cars lasting 15-20 years before you decide to trade them in.

On the news Thursday morning, they showed the top 3 worst jobs to have and #3 Social Work.  Well that's me!  If you keep up with the budget cuts that many state officials are making, it's in the social service realm.  I've worked for a non-profit organization for almost 10yrs now and I understand pinching penny's as my salary is based on grants and if we get approved for those.

I say this to say that those penny's that I pinch go to student loans and I just don't have enough to save up for another car.  I need just a few more years so I can get one paid off and then I can make car payments.  It's even more frustrating because I just had all this work done on my car so I shouldn't be having any problems.  My warrenty expires at the end of the month, so I pray that everything major gets taken care of.

Lord I come to you on my knees.  I want to have my pity party and cry and say why.  But I'm standing on your word that you will never give me more than I can handle and that you are my provider.  I come saying, I trust you Lord.  I trust that you have my best interest at hand, I trust your plan for my life and I trust that you are always working things out on my behalf.  Although at times I feel like I'm in this never ending storm and can't make it anymore, you seem to bring angels across my path to encourage me and remind me of your love.  I need you, this world needs you.  As I take my car in tomorrow, I pray that you are working on my behalf now.  I pray that I will not have to pay anything and the problem will be minimum.  Increase your strength in me, give me peace and the wisdom to make the correct decisions.  Thank you for loving me, hearing my prayers, and having mercy on my life.  Thank you for forgiving me when I mess up but most of all...Thank you for loving me enought that you died on the cross and three days later rising to save me!  By your Blood Jesus I am redeemed!
In Jesus name I pray...Amen

He has Risen from the dead!

Before you take up residency, BELIEVE in the one who was resurrected!  He is no longer in the tomb but with us everyday, there is no excuse not to believe and have a RELATIONSHIP with Jesus!

Need I Say More

You know it's serious when you have to use this label.  What are your most precious things in life?  Not that aww, how precious but if something ever happens to this person or thing, then there is going to be trouble.

Well as I have been requesting moving quotes and with my previous moving experiences, I'm contemplating what I want them to move and I'll move myself.  I paid a moving company the last time I moved and they were very quick but many of my tubes got broken because of their lack of care but more on speediness, which I really liked so I didn't say anything.

Last night I got on a website that sends request to numerous companys and guess who my first call was from?  Yes, this company that I've used twice before but decided not to use them again not only because of the broken tubes but some other broken items.  I did not catch the name of the organization as Belinda was talking.  Boy, her sales pitch sounded awesome, so I had to ask again who she was with and when she told me I was like "Oh Man".  She continues and the whole time I was thinking what should I do.  She was telling me about other services they offer that didn't take place the last two times, free wardrobe boxes, and 20 free packing boxes.  So finally I had to break it to her.  I told her that I had used them before in the past but decided not to use them again and why.  Of course she was apologetic and assured that she would handpick them best movers for me.  I was thinking, she gave me this whole spill about how all their movers are trained and go through ridget training onsite and so on and how people are waiting to work for them because they are good at what they do and treat their customers great.  I just wanted to say, honey, forget the sales pitch.  They are pretty reasonably priced so they may get my business again.

I talked with another moving company today and the lady went through the companys history, the almost exact pitch of how they are "the only" company that does...I wanted to say, the previous company I just talked to are the only ones that do that too.  Man!  I think she forgot I was on the phone, well I know I sure forgot what I had on my inventory list because I started working while she was talking.  It was that long.  I wouldn't chose that company just because of the long history lesson and I had to ask before we make any reservations, can I ask you some questions that should have been said in the 30 min monologue.  How much does it cost?  I think you forgot to mention that, did you skip that paragraph?

I know, I was yawning too.  So back to this other moving company that didn't understand the "Handle with care" theory.  Theory class wasn't my best, so I will give them a break (not literally).  The last time I moved, I made about 10 car loads of items and it wore me out.  Well this time, I really didn't want to move anything, not even my vacuum (which I will because I need to do pre and post cleaning) because packing and unpacking is alot of work.

So my "Handle with care" items, which is all my stuff but most importantly...

Yes, my scrapbooking items.  Some people may take these items lightly but check again!  They will need to pull out the whole team for this one.

Granted I don't have that many items but what I do have sure is heavy.  I may have to be there and do what I do best, supervise.  Look boys, these are my precious items, well all of these items are precious but most importantly this suitcase full of scrapbook items need to be handled with care.  I don't normally complain but if something happens to this bag, your hide is mine.  In my nice non-passive aggressive tone!!

This would have been a great time to make a moving advent calendar.  Man, why didn't I think of that while I was at the lake.  Oh well, count down is almost here.

Lord, I know you are always with me in every decision I make.  I pray that you will help me make the right decision.  Not only in this move but with life in general.  Thank you for listening to me moan and groan about everything but most importantly thank you for your forgiveness.  I have assurance that whereever I move, it will be the right choice.  I am safe in your arms and really stand on what I believe that no weapon formed against me shall prosper because I am yours.  Lord, help me to stop listening to people but to what you have to say to me.  I love you.

I Don't Want To Ride

The amusement park opened yesterday for the season, yay! Um, not!  Well I enjoy going to the amusement park but not to fond of the rides.  The only rides that I seem to really enjoy are the water ones. You can also get some good people watching assessment in.  This is where they should have taken us in college to assess people, not the student union.

My life seems to be a big emotional rollercoaster at times (alot of times) and that may be why I'm opposed to rollercoasters at amusement parks.  Now, I will give the disclaimer that my unwanted guest is here and that doesn't help with the emotions.  It seems to always show up at the wrong time...but then again, when is the right time?

Days like today when my emotion is everywhere, I KNOW I need to get up and out of the house but I don't.  I'm a great host of pity parties where there is a party of one and I'm not proud of that but I am aware of what happens.

I've started this past week in full mode of my vision book.  For me it seems like the older I get, the less my life goals are obtainable.  I think about where I want to be in life and what I want but life sometimes seems like I'm at a deadend and there is no way out.  My hope is that this vision book will help put the fire back in my life and give me something to reach for in life and to remember.

I am the daughter of the most high and He knows the plan for my life and future.  He has good things in store for me and my current situation is not my future.  God wants my emotions to be stable and not every which direction.  I must be content with my life and hold on to the promise that God will never leave me and I'm not alone and he has more for me.

My Mister

I wrote in an earlier post about waiting for my Boaz as I studied Ruth in bible study.  We'll my friend Tori sparked some hot topics while posting about "Adam".  You can read more as she started a blog this week at Awaiting Adam.  She posted a intercessory prayer to God for her "Adam" that I will repost now as a reminder for me to continue to stand in the gap for my "Mister"...
"Tonight I pray for my Adam. I pray that God will continue to lead, guide and protect you; that the Holy Spirit will minister to your every need; that you remain faithful and steadfast to the call of God on your life and continue to walk in His Will for your life as it will soon effect OUR lives; that you are confidently waiting for me, knowing that I am praying and faithfully waiting for you....I love you...."
I used to pray for Mister and became idle in standing in the gap.  I started praying some years back in college when a friend shared how she prayed for her Mister I believe before they were married and she found out later that the night she prayed for him, he was picked up by two young ladies who mentioned to him that they were going to rape him.  I don't recall why they didn't but it stuck how to me how she was obedient and prayed before they met and were together and it was her prayer that moved God.  It just shows how important intercessory prayer is and standing in the gap for anyone, not just your special someone is SO IMPORTANT NOW than before.

As I wait, I must take the information I "know" so well and apply it to my spirit man!  I must TRULY be the woman of God that I pray about for God, Mister, and me.  I must walk in the shoes that my Heavenly Father has given me as heir to His thrown.  I must turn from the torn pieces of cloth that the enemy tries to make be believe I am.

I am:
  •    The daughter of the Most High
  •    Victorious in ALL areas of my life
  •    Loved by my Heavenly Father
  •    Forgiven of ALL my sins
  •    Made whole
  •    Worthy to be loved
  •    Redeemed
  •    Somebody
  •    Beautiful
  •    Prosperious in ALL areas of my life
I will admit, it was hard to come up with the ten things I know I am in the Lord.  As I work on my self-esteem and worth.  I pray that I will be able to see with my spiritual eyes my true worth and value as my Heavenly Father sees me.  I pray that I will allow God to work in my life and prepare me to be what he has called me to be (wife, mother, caregiver, ect).  Lord I thank you in advance for your love, mercy and grace.  I thank you for Godly friends and support.  I pray that you will increase my circle of Godly friends, increase healthy relationships with men and women, increase my wisdom and discernment, and increase the love you have installed in me for your people.  Remove in me those things that are not fruit of the spirit, those things that are not of you.  Replace the things that are not of you with things that are pure, just, loyal, and noble.   I love you Lord.

Lovely Weekend

View from a dock off the Lake of the Ozarks!

This past weekend was the best weekend in a very long time.  It started Wednesday evening with family coming in from ATL.  It felt like old times, well except the part of them staying with ME in my micro apartment.  Next time they come and visit, I will have more space, yay!

Visiting other family members and spending quality time is what I like most.  We don't need to go anywhere.  We went to Gates BBQ and watched movies.

I left Friday afternoon for a "Girls weekend at the lakehouse".  It was meant for me to go because this will be my only free weekend until I move in 2mths.  The lakehouse is located on Lake of the Ozarks.  Five ladies and one "CB" (um, craft boy [ another 'b' name] for better terms) scrapbooking on the lake.  You can't beat that.  A friend of a friend has a lakehouse and she and her husband (CB) extended an invitation for some of us ladies to come hang and scrapbook.  They were such great host for the weekend.  We went boat riding, had a bonfire, sang Christmas songs under the Christmas lights around the house, ate, and scrapbooked.  I wish my weekend could be like this every weekend.  Everyone needs a lakehouse to go to every weekend.
